Your Journey

Our lives are like a journey throughout space and time.
It can be like a freeway or a mountain trail that’s sublime.
Our pathway is sometimes narrow and other times it’s wide.
But no one walks beside us the whole way by our side.

Your life is only yours, the pathway yours to choose.
Some will walk many miles with you, others you’ll quickly lose.
No one else can walk it for you, each step along the way.
From sun-up to sun-down, you’ll walk away each day.

Your journey will take you far, up hill and dale alike.
Some days like a gentle stroll, others a strenuous hike.
Some days it’ll be easy, others it’ll be very hard.
One day you’ll walk on grass, the other you’ll walk on shards.

But meaning is in the journey as you carry on each mile.
Some days will bring you tears, others a happy smile.
You’ll meet many people as you toil on through life.
Many will teach you lessons, others will cause you strife.

Love all those that you meet as much as you are able to give.
But more importantly treat yourself with mercy each day that you live.
Those who walk beside you, you’ll wish to never part.
But when time runs out for others, you’ll carry them in your heart.

When your journey’s finally over and you’ve reached your very last step,
You’ll be reunited with your loved ones that you’d wished you’d always kept.
So, while no one can walk along side of every step you will take.
Love will always last foever, and time will erase all your mistakes.

So don’t be afraid to live fully and to take your life in stride.
Each step will bring you memories, in your heart to hide.
One day when it’s over, a new journey will begin.
One that lasts forever, surrounded by your friends.

Death is not the end, and some day all will see,
Life lasts beyond death, and a new form we will be.
You don’t have to believe me. I’m not here to sway.
Just please embrace the journey, each and every day.
