Drifting

The captain was getting desperate. The storm was growing strong.
He tried to find a safe harbor, but the waters still raged on.
He knew his hopes were slim to save his ship and all of his crew.
Yet though the outlook was dim, still to the Lord he drew.

He prayed for God to keep him from harm just long enough,
To sail his ship to safety, though the waves were high and rough.
He longed to see a beacon of light from upon the shore,
For he knew if he saw the lighthouse, his way would then be sure.

We are like the captain, in the seas of folly and sin.
Jesus is the lighthouse and only He can guide us in.
But we must decide right now what course of action to take,
For if we drift too long, it soon will be too late.

The way is getting longer and we’re drifting in our boat.
The waves are getting stronger, and we soon won’t be afloat.
Pay attention to my warnings. Give heed to my cry.
Follow the beams of the lighthouse or you are doomed to die.
