Squirrel Disagreement

It started out as a rustle in the leaves,
That led to a ruckus high in the trees.
Wild chattering over who stole a nut.
Mama squirrel got mad and papa squirrel’s out of luck.

Papa squirrel only wanted to nibble a bite.
Not to enter into a scolding and an exuberant fight.
But mama squirrel had plans that papa squirrel foiled.
Plans of her own that left her all roiled.

So, they fought, chittering and racing all through the tress.
Papa squirrel in front with mama close at his knees.
The surrounding neighbors noticed the ruckus,
And the crows loudly protested with caws.

How do you stop a fight between squirrels,
When they are caught up in a whirl?
But slowly in time, mama found another acorn,
And she gave up treating papa with scorn.

They finally made up and curled up in their nest.
Where they slept for a well-needed rest.
