WARNING – Written because of my struggles with suicidal ideation over much of my life, and in honor of two people I know who have died by suicide. Please never give up.
Suicide
It’s a topic no one wants to talk about, often we find it taboo.
The fact that some people want to die is a hard fact to swallow and chew.
The reasons are many and varied it seems, but they all boil down into pain.
Often tears are held back as they keep in the hurt. If they fell it surely would rain.
But we must talk about it to break the silence and many a life to save.
Locked in prisons of darkness, depression abounds, making many its’ slaves.
But there is a way out and healing will take place if only one doesn’t quit.
Hard work it will take, seeking healing and a resolute pursuance of it.
“It’s a selfish act,” some say with scorn that really don’t understand.
But the pain clouds the vision to see any hope for any woman or man.
When all hope seems gone there seems no way out and only one option is left.
However, this is not true and it’s up to us to help them see the rest.
Pain gradually subsides as healing occurs. There is always hope still.
So never give up. You’ve come this far. You’ve got a purpose to fill.
Reach out for help to those you can trust. There are many who love you today.
We are begging you don’t believe the lies. We desperately want you to stay.
I’ve been in that place where darkness surrounds many times over the years.
But slowly an surely the healing takes place and gradually relieves my fears.
I’ve come really far from the places that I’ve been. There is no sudden balm.
Through steady toil I’ve built a life filled with joy and calm.
So, while the road seems long and endless today, know there is a path for you.
This path is rewarding as you build a new life. Each step is yours to choose.
Hold on my dear friend. The healing is near. Let me share love with you.
You are not alone. Reach out today. I promise you all this is true.
Many blessings await you in future years. Don’t let the pain tell you lies.
Someday you will see this whole thing from totally different eyes.
Much love sent your way and promises too of a life worth the fight.
You’re amazing and strong. You can do this. Use every bit of your might.
Rest in the fact that all this will pass and tomorrow is a new day.
I promise you that there are always good reasons to stay.
Call a helpline. Got to a hospital. Do whatever it takes.
It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve messed up or made mistakes.
Relax now my friend in love from us all. Take some time to heal.
You will get through this to a new day. What I’m telling you is real.
Reach out now for help. You are worth seeking love. Don’t ever, ever quit.
You will make it to a new dawn. I promise. Please believe it.
