Childhood Magic
Childhood is a wonderful age to live and to explore.
Wonders abound in the world outside one’s door.
Small crickets, a blade of grass, a stick from upon a tree.
All hold special appeal for inquisitive eyes to see.
Little hands reach for the stars in the cold night sky.
And tongues catch the winter snow as it flies.
Snow angels and snowmen and sledding too.
Hot chocolate and snow pants that are brand new.
Spring comes with pools and puddles to stomp in if you dare.
Tadpoles and frog eggs hatch from the water there.
Mud covers boots as they drip on the ground.
Warm sunshine and brisk air their body surrounds.
Summer brings heat, beaches and tans.
Summer camp, climbing trees, exploring new lands.
Freedom from school, picnics and barbecues.
Late bedtimes and long days too.
Autumn returns and with it do jackets to wear.
Falling leaves, pumpkins and corn mazes to share.
Never grow up my dear children. Forever stay young at heart.
May the magic of these days never part.
