Dragons
One day a young man set out on a quest to head to a very far city.
With excitement one day, he swiftly left, the opportunities made him all giddy.
He was done with this town and needed a change to further his dreams and career.
He was lost in thought while marching on and felt he had nothing to fear.
Mile after mile he continued to tread up hill and dale happily.
But soon he heard tales of what’s up ahead and he began to feel uneasy.
Rumors of dragons fell on his ears, and he began to fear.
Maybe he should turn back now. He wasn’t prepared. This was bad news to hear.
“The dragons breathe fire and have very large teeth” one person said on the way.
Others told stories of immense claws; You could never tell what they would say.
Impenetrable scales, violent attitudes, and blood thirsty hunger to fill.
Not prepared for a fight, should he turn back? These dragons were hard to kill.
But nothing in life ever comes easy. Surely, he must know a way.
He must face his fears of dragons ahead. Don’t run away. He must stay.
But how can he conquer these dragons? They sound pretty intimidating.
He’s not trained to fight but to reach his dreams this would be a necessary thing.
He soon learned each dragon had a name and a way to conquer it.
He decided to head on despite his fears, and a newfound courage was lit.
Their names held the key to their undoing, so all he must do is try.
The battle could be won if he just used his brain and kept a very sharp eye.
The first dragon’s name was Failure, and he could be conquered with a little effort.
Failure, though tough on the outside, is really of quite a weak sort.
This man must try hard, and Failure will flee, because he is really a coward.
And then the man can move on, effort pays off, soon fully headed forward.
The next dragon’s name was Scorn, and Scorn looked down from on high.
She flew around, blowing out smoke, and threatening all who drew nigh.
She was the most agitated type, but Scorn could be dealt with easily.
The smoke stung his eyes, and made him choke, so surely, she was scary.
He must push on, and dodge the flames, mostly she is full of hot air.
Do not fight, she’s not worth the effort. Don’t fall into her lair.
Simply hurry on quickly and cover himself with a shield.
She soon quickly bores and moves on, her interest to yield.
The last dragon’s name is Doubt, and Doubt is the easiest yet.
Doubt makes you believe you can’t get past until their needs are met.
But Doubt is really a wimp, and once you’ve made it thus far you will see,
Doubt’s really a bully, but Doubt has no claws or teeth.
These dragons are metaphors you see, and surely you know what to do.
To reach your dreams you must never give up and keep on pushing though.
See how you’ve come this far; Your already set on your way.
If you continue on you will succeed and you will be okay.
