Unspoken
How can you heal from the past with words unsaid?
Your heart feels hollow and your mind seems dead.
How to heal when the words are better left unspoken.
How do you pick up the pieces of a life that is broken?
You can’t utter a sound because your throat feels raw.
Your choking back memories of vial things that you saw.
If you speak of the past, it’s like you’re giving life to the pain.
You must bury it quickly and hide it again and again.
These memories mustn’t live and they must die for good.
Don’t you dare mention the words that you know you should.
They haunt you and flood your thoughts each and every day.
Nighttime brings no relief for in your dreams they do play.
The horrors frolic and mock you as they flood your mind.
You can’t put these scenes into words you will find.
To speak such evil is impossible for the innocent like you.
You can’t fathom how these memories could even be true.
How can such evil exist inside a cold human heart?
How do you stop the pain that this nightmare did start?
You want to hate them, but hatred consumes you too.
You blame yourself for the things you’ve been through.
The scars haven’t healed and they’re oozing fresh blood.
The sharks are circling amidst the whelming flood.
One thing you’ve learned though is try as they might,
You’ll never succumb to madness without a heck of a fight.
They may have hurt you many countless times.
But you are stronger than even you know, you will find.
When you speak your story it might feel like words are crass.
Like your struggling to speak while coughing up glass.
But share your story boldly for those who will hear.
Few will listen but don’t stop until you find a kind ear.
This will help you heal from the insults of the past.
Keep sharing your story until peace comes to last.
Don’t let your abuser silence you for a moment longer.
Each word that you share helps you grow stronger.
