I Drink Away The Pain.
I wish I could feel numb.
Instead I feel too much.
I wish peace would come.
Instead I rely on a crutch.
Anxiety ever on high.
Pain pouring through my soul.
I listen to the lies.
There’s one thing I control.
I crave peace inside.
I drink another sip.
I let the anxiety slide.
Relief passes through my lips.
I drink away the pain.
I’ve decided I need to stop.
I’ve shut up my brain.
But I’ve let my morals drop.
I can’t become an alcoholic.
Alcohol doesn’t fix things.
It just makes me melancholic.
Just another plague it brings.
It only tricks your mind.
I know it’s not the answer.
It makes you increasingly blind.
It’s a narcissistic romancer.
I know there is something better.
So, I’ve given up the drink.
It serves only as a fetter.
I was made to think.
