Depression

The darkness is insidious.
It grows within my mind.
It’s lies are many and hideous.
It’s full of hatred of an evil kind.

It longs to destroy me,
And others too as well.
From its reach I cannot flee.
Lies from truth I cannot tell.

This darkness comsumes all in its path,
Both young and old also.
No one can hide from its wrath.
Its presence many know.

This darkness has a name.
Depression, it is dubbed.
It makes you feel insane.
It destroys all that you love.

Its goal is to kill you,
But please don’t let it win.
Its lies simply are not true.
Do not let it in.

Surround yourself with God’s love.
His light will break the curse.
A helping hand from above.
Always there for better or worse.

While the darkness comes and goes.
Hold onto light that’s bright.
Make love all that you know.
Push darkness away with His might.

Allow others to show you His light.
Though faithful friends may be few.
Their love will dispel the night.
Their love is ever true.

Don’t believe the lies of darkness.
The pain will somday end.
In His love try to find rest.
Your friendships always tend.

Love is the answer,
To suffering and pain,
And while it’s not a fast cure,
Its peace will come to reign.

While sometimes all you can see is darkness,
Know God’s love is always sure.
He doesn’t love you any less.
Hold on for a reprieve.

So, don’t give up while in the darkness.
Its lies please don’t believe.
Live each day in God’s brightness.
His love will never leave.
